Thursday's Topic: November 8, 2012
Nov. 8th, 2012 01:10 pmBeing that I'm weird and enjoy asking people questions and seeing what they have to say, I've decided to make Thursday my official day for asking questions.
Anyways, on to our first topic!
What Disney movie was your favorite growing up? Is it still your favorite now?
Pretty simple question to get things going, I think.
Anyways, my favorite growing up was Aladdin. I don't know when I got it, honestly, but I do know my VHS was destroyed in 2001 after several hundred viewings. I didn't actually get the DVD until 2010 when I got back into Disney films. And, yeah, I am waiting impatiently for Disney to release this on blu-rayand if they release it to 3-D, like they did with The Lion King, I will seriously sell my soul to them.
What about you?

Date: 2012-11-08 08:44 pm (UTC)I actually have a selection, largely because of my VHS collection - that I would watch religiously.
It's a toss up between Hercules, The Lion King, Hunchback, Cinderella, The Sword In The Stone, and The Emperor's New Groove - though that came later on DVD.
You know my opinions on these ;P

Date: 2012-11-08 08:50 pm (UTC)Though, in all honesty, I'm surprised you didn't list Sleeping Beauty. When I think of you, I think of that one & The Emperor's New Groove. And this may honestly be because I think you are as fabulous & as graceful as Aurora.

Date: 2012-11-08 08:51 pm (UTC)And yeah, I was about to edit it and add Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty, because my memory is terrible and I can't make lists.

Date: 2012-11-08 09:48 pm (UTC)I'm also guessing Beauty and the Beast and Lady and the Tramp were other favourites before The Lion King as I managed to break both videos and the video player by trying to play both at the same time. Oops.

Date: 2012-11-08 11:20 pm (UTC)Or were.
I just, y'know, have spent the the last three years trying to get DVDs because technology is cool and all.
Aladdin's the only one of mine that was completely broken.
Also, Gigi, don't lie: Cinderella was your favorite.

Date: 2012-11-09 06:30 am (UTC)I definitely saw and loved beauty and the beast, and snow white was a close second.
Now, I'm looking forward to a rewatch. I love strong female characters, and I want to find them in disney, even if it takes a while :p I know there's definitely some.
Oh, I watched Mulan for the first time in 2010 and adored it :) but Beauty and the Beast still wins for me.

Date: 2012-11-09 12:19 pm (UTC)Rewatches get kind of ridiculous when Gigi, Keeley and I are involved, so that's definitely something to look forward to.
I'm sure the topic of strong female characters will definitely come up in conversation at some point, but my two cents is that none of the princesses ever SET OUT to get a prince, he was just a bonus ;)

Date: 2012-11-09 01:20 pm (UTC)Oh yes, and I'm a long-time fan of the original Parent Trap, Old Yeller, and Pollyanna, as well. :)

Date: 2012-11-13 08:38 am (UTC)I am a terrible Disney fan in that I've never seen many of the older live action ones. I think Bedknobs & Broomsticks and Mary Poppins are the only two pre-1990s live action Disney films I've seen :s
