Disney films at the pictures?
Nov. 22nd, 2012 07:59 pmWhich Disney films have you seen at the cinema?
For me, it's quite a rarity - the first ever Disney film I saw in the pictures was A Bug's Life (also the first Pixar movie); I didn't see another one until Princess and the Frog. Both times, though, I found it a real treat, a good Disney movie takes you in anyway when you're at home but there's something quite special about those cinema walls! I was just enthralled by Bug's Life and when it came to the Princess and the Frog ... wow. Hands down best cinema visit ever. Not only was I on a date but I was actually dancing about in my chair by the time Dig A Little Deeper came on!
The only other Pixar movie I'd seen was Brave, and that just completely grabbed me as well. I'd forgotten that Pixar usually shows a short film beforehand as well, which was a beautiful little surprise.
I'm curious about you guys. What was it like for you, to see a movie on the big screen? Are there any that you wish you'd caught?
Hope you're all enjoying your Thanksgiving!

Date: 2012-11-22 09:30 pm (UTC)The first Disney film that I remember actually SEEING was Mulan. In between it gets hazy because I didn't go to the cinema a lot because of lack of money, friends, and to be totally blunt some psychological problems that made cinemas difficult for me.
Then I saw Enchanted in the cinema, once with friends and then again with my family, and fell in love with Disney all over again. I dragged my mum to The Princess and the Frog, but I unfortunately missed Tangled until the DVD release. Now I'm in the habit of seeing every possible film I'm vaguely interested in so I don't have any regrets (still torn up about not seeing Inception the first time round, ugh).
I saw Brave, and The Muppets twice this year, and Toy Story 3 twice when that came out.
I also saw TLK when it was rereleased in 3D with my best friend who didn't remember, like, any of it. It was absolutely amazing to be in there with a large number of children who'd never seen it before.

Date: 2012-11-22 09:46 pm (UTC)I also know what you mean about the cinema stuff - my parents weren't big on going due to the expense and travel, so I didn't even really get to go until the Harry Potters came out (and even then, only for the Harry Potter stuff). I'm a bit more adventurous now there's a cinema within walking distance, though :)
Oh yay for Brave and the Muppets! I didn't catch Toy Story 3 either, but I was SO gutted on missing Up. I heard so many people cried watching the first 20 minutes, and knowing my reaction when I saw it on DVD, I know I would have been one of those people as well.

Date: 2012-11-22 09:52 pm (UTC)I technically have two local cinemas, ahah, because of my uni accommodation - both are only about ten minutes away and I have loyalty cards! I've only started seeing films on my own in cinemas, because I'm weird and actually quite like doing that. It's nice ^^
I missed Up totally, I dunno why but I just wasn't interested in it all that much. I got it on DVD and decided that I was an idiot for not seeing it in the cinema.

Date: 2012-11-22 11:17 pm (UTC)I went to the cinema on my own to see Scott Pilgrim - because everyone else I knew had already seen it and it was really starting to get my attention. Totally worth it. ^^

Date: 2012-11-22 11:35 pm (UTC)Yeah, my uni digs are just outside London, so there's lots of chances to see awesome stuff. My local often shows things that have been taken out of other cinemas so I can catch up, like I did with Anna Karenina and Looper. Then I have the regular Odeon and a super expensive Cinema DeLux near the family home. I'm kind of addicted XD
And OMG Scott Pilgrim is one of my favourite films. I dragged two different sets of friends to see it - It's glorious

Date: 2012-11-23 03:54 am (UTC)Then the following summer, when I was 5, my uncle gave me a Mulan doll with the promise of going to see the movie in theaters for my birthday, which I will always remember.
When I was six, my very pregnant aunt and my grandpa took me to go see Tarzan after she (my aunt) had just taught me to ride a bike.
Then I saw Home on the Range with my class when I was 11. And that was it for about 5 years.
In more recent years, I saw Princess and the Frog with my younger cousin and then saw Toy Story 3 with a friend (and then cried for 3 days).
A couple of weeks ago I spent Halloween with my BFF going to see Frankenweenie, which was the most perfect way to spend Halloween :)
Right now I'm trying to talk anyone into going to see Wreck-It Ralph with me.
