Also, this is just speculation, but I always wondered if the reason it didn't do well in the box office is that it came out the same year as Lilo and Stitch, only a few months later, and so a lot of people didn't realize it was a Disney movie. (This was true at my high school, at least. Everyone I talked to either hadn't heard of it at all or thought it was a Dreamworks movie, which didn't seem to be as popular back then). I also feel like it wasn't very heavily advertised. It just seemed like the way they put it out and the little attention they gave it set it up for failure.
